The Breaking of the Bread

In this message from Luke 24 and the story of the Road to Emmaus, we explore how two disciples encountered the resurrected Jesus while walking home after the crucifixion. Though Jesus walked with them and explained the Scriptures, they did not recognize Him until they sat down together and He broke the bread. In that moment, their eyes were opened and they realized they had been in the presence of Christ all along.

This sermon highlights how spending time with Jesus transforms our understanding of Scripture and deepens our faith. Throughout the Bible, important spiritual revelations often take place around a table—through hospitality, fellowship, and shared meals. From Abraham welcoming strangers, to the Passover meal, to the many times Jesus taught and performed miracles while sharing food, the act of breaking bread carries deep spiritual meaning.

The story of Emmaus reminds believers that Jesus still walks with us today, even when we do not immediately recognize His presence. When we invite Him into our lives and make space to spend time with Him—through Scripture, prayer, and fellowship—our spiritual eyes are opened and our hearts begin to burn with renewed faith.

If you are seeking a deeper relationship with Christ, this message will encourage you to slow down, walk with Jesus, and invite Him to your table, where transformation, understanding, and renewed purpose can begin.
